General Information
Just four kilometers outside the town of Pienza, a road winds its way around the area's characteristic "crete senesi" or clay mounds and leads up to the panoramic spot where the Agriturismo Cretaiole is perched. This fully renovated, 14th century farmhouse of Etruscan origin is located in the heart of our property and in the center of the Artistic and Natural Park of the Val d'Orcia.
Cretaiole enjoys spectacular views: the Renaissance city of Pienza rises up on one side, while the soft "moonscape" of the valley spreads out on the other side in a checkerboard of agricultural fields. Mount Amiata crowns the colorful countryside in the background.
Simply arriving at Cretaiole is an uplifting experience, when first laying eyes on the spacious yard with its flowers and plants, tables, lawn chairs, and toys for people of all sizes. The centuries-old olive grove flanking the garden invokes a sense of peace and harmony. The farmhouse inside is warm and well-cared for, just like your own home.
Cretaiole was the first "agriturismo" established in the area, and it still maintains the same principle on which it was founded: respect for its original characteristics.
In the process of creating a new life for a farmhouse from the 1300's, we have tried to preserve its unique architectural features and furnish it with period furniture in order to allow our guests to step back in time while availing themselves of modern amenities.
We believe that running an "agriturismo" means living in and with nature, with the awareness that we are an integral part of nature and cannot possess it. Nature governs the rhythm and success of our work, and credit is due to her for the fruits that she bears.
This is the source of our strong ties with the earth, with the land, and our love for our work. We aim to involve our guests in order to permit them to grasp the essence of our land and its historical, cultural, culinary and naturalistic identity.
We aim to make our guests feel at ease through our warm hospitality and the quality of our services, which make us stand apart.
In this oasis of peace and tranquillity, you will have the opportunity to experience the countryside and its rhythms, to rediscover aromas, flavors, images and memories that have been waiting to resurface, and to witness first-hand how one small element can become so vital.
Cretaiole is divided into six apartments, each of which accommodate 2-6 people and which are equipped with a living room, kitchen, fireplace, one or more bedrooms, and a bathroom with shower.
A few of the apartments can be adjoined in order to accommodate 4-6 people.
Each apartment has an independent entrance, autonomous heating, TV set, cooking utensils, and fresh linens.
There is also a laundry that can be used by our guests.
Prices - Between 30 EUR and 50 EUR per person per day.

"L'OLIVIERA" - sleeps 2 + 2.
Independent entrance, 1 bedroom with queen-sized bed, 1 bathroom, living room with sofa bed, and kitchen with fireplace.
