General Information
Paganico is 25 km from Grosseto, 45 km from Siena and 100 km from Florence. It is easy to reach by car, bus or train. Its strategic position makes it an ideal starting point for excursions to the many sites rich in history and art.
In less than a half hour’s drive is Monte Amiata, with its winter ski resorts and woods of firs, chestnuts and beeches; Roselle and Vetulonia, Etruscan and Roman archeological sites; Montalcino and its vintage “Brunello” red wine; the unique flora and fauna of the Maremma Natural Park; the splendid Costa d’Argento with Punta Ala, Monte Argentario and the Tuscan Archipelago.
For those who prefer to relax, the Tenuta offers an extraordinary natural environment for walks along the Ombrone river or in the 1000 hectares of Mediterrenean woods which surround cultivated fields.
The splendid countryside is also rich in hunting traditions which have also acted to conserve numerous wild species: pheasant, hare, boar, fallow- deer, roe- buck, hedgehog and duck.
In the past the farmhouse “I Roggeti” hosted a family of sharecroppers who cultivated the land and bred cattle, also used for drawing ploughs, carts and other utensils. The production of wheat, meat, milk, wine and cheese were both for family use and for the market.
Today, entirely restored, it hosts five apartments of various dimensions whose names recall their original uses: “il mandriolo” used to be the sheep fold; “la tinaia” was where the wine barrels were kept for aging; “l'oleario” housed the great terracotta vases with the olive oil; in “la caciaia” the cheese was kept and aged; and “la colombaia” on the first floor was the family's home.
“I Roggeti” is a 1km drive on a well maintained country road from the main road and the “Fattoria”. It is surrounded by a wonderfully quiet and reserved environment, immersed in the green of the countryside. The reserved gardens, swimming pool and barbecues will make your days and evenings in the open even more pleasant.
The apartments
Il Mandriolo (welcomes 6 perople):
The patio with barbecue leads to the large living room where your winter evenings will be warmed by the fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, two double rooms, one twin bedroom, two bathrooms with shower. Private portion of the garden.
La Tinaia (welcomes 4 perople):
Situated on the ground floor, with private portion of garden and barbecue. It is composed by a living - dining room with fully equipped kitchen, two double rooms, two bathrooms with shower. The sofa bed in the living room can host two additional people. This apartment is equipped for persons with disabilities.
L'Oleario (welcomes 2 people):
Situated on the ground floor, with private portion of garden and barbecue. It is composed by a living - dining room with kitchen, one double room with bathroom and shower. The sofa bed in the living room can host two additional people.
La Caciaia (welcomes 2 people):
Situated on the ground floor, with private portion of garden and barbecue. It is composed by a living - dining room with kitchen, one double room, one bathroom with shower. On request the double room can become a twin bedroom. Using the sofa bed in the living room two additional people can be hosted.
La Colombaia (welcomes 8 people):
Situated on the first floor, it is composed by a living room with large fireplace and mezzanine, fully equipped kitchen, three double rooms, one twin bedroom, each one with private bathroom with shower. Using the available sofa beds, it can welcome additional 2/3 people.It overlooks the private portion of garden with barbecue.
Each apartment has independent heating, dishwasher, TV, satellite, spacious reserved garden and parking place.
