General Information
Casentino is the ideal Territory for walking. There are itineraries for excursions of various lenghts in many directions. The GEA ( Grande Escursione Appenninica - a network of marked footpaths) passes through the district in four stages between Chuisi della Verna and Casatagno D'Andrea. For ski-ing there are lifts and slopes at Passo della Calla as well as the possibility of cross-country ski-ing, the most favoured itinerary being along the ridge between Badia Prataglia and the Hermitage of Camoldoli (9km).
CANDLELIGHT
Perhaps the only agritourism establishment in Italy to offer hospitality by candlelight. A romantic, suggestive holiday, an experience to tell to your friends. The atmosphere of bygoe times, of stories around the fireside, a game of cards, a glass of good wine.
WHOLEFOOD
In a friendly and rural atmosphere one may enjoy local dishes and traditional Tuscan recipes. Most of the food served at table is produced on the estate, including organically grown vegetables from the large garden, and meat from animals raised for this purpose.
HORSE TREKKING
We hae ten years experience with horse trekking and as a consequence we have an intimate knowledge of the paths through the surrounding territory. It is thus possible today to trek on horseback in Casentino through the Casentine Forest National Park, or ride as far as Lake Trasimeno, or even across the Appenines to reach Romagna or the Marches, or take the ancient trail leading to the Maremma Coast.
The horseback excursions may be organised with nightly stoppovers at agritourism farms, or for the more adventurous with bivouacs in tents and mountain shelters.
Our specially bred Maremmana and Arab-cross horses are particularly suited to this type of excursion and may be ridden traditonally or Mazzetta.
