 General Information

If you are looking for a place to enjoy nature, simplicity and elegance, to finde peace, to relive the past, legends and romance, the Foresteria Il Giardino di Fontarronco offers you the possibility to experience unforgettable moments as only a place in Tuscany can.

This 18 th century Villa owned by the Illuminati family, has been meticulously restored and furnished with style and elegance using antique furniture. There are ten apartments available of various configurations designed for a relaxing and invigorating holiday in the heart of green Tuscan hills, or peraphs to use a base to discover the numerous and magnificent cultural and artistic sights nearby. Florence and Siena are only 30 minutes drive away and Arezzo with its famous antique fair is only 10 minutes by car. This corner of paradise called the Foresteria is surrounded by fruit groves and vegetable farms, which give one the true feeling of peace and tranquillity, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Bed and breakfast - This fall and winter, the Foresteria il Giardino di Fontarronco will open its doors on a Bed and Breakfast basis, living up to its reputation as an intimate and sophisticated spot for holiday retreats.
For the first time ever, the Main Villa of the Foresteria, with its 5 rooms (2 of which are suites), will accommodate those looking for a truly authentic and unique Tuscan get-away.
Each of the rooms comes fully equipped with its own bathroom (with shower or bathtub), minifridge, TV with Satellite, and telephone.

Each morning, breakfast will be served in the centrally located dining room, which is just steps away from the bedrooms. The room is tastefully decorated with traditional Tuscan furnishings and a large fireplace that will be burning all day long. There's no better place imaginable to return to after a long day of exploring the nearby wineries and hill towns!
For those guests who prefer to spend their days relaxing in the villa, there is a wide selection of magazines and newspapers in the sitting area next to the fireplace.
The price of the standard double room is 100 euro per night, and the suite costs 120 euro per night. Breakfast is included.

History - The origins of our farmhouse are lost in time even though we are led to believe that the guesthouse was originally built at the beginning of the 13th Century. In fact, on restoring the old cellars of the Leopold structure, architectural finds, proving the existence of a landing port, were brought to light.

In fact, even though Valdichiana is now one of the most flourishing farming areas in our country, it was marshland until it was reclaimed during the 18th Century.

A second substantial change occurred in 1724, when, following the reclamation of Valdichiana (planned by Fossombroni), Duke Leopold of Tuscany (after whom the type of structure is named), issued a decree on farmhouse building canons establishing the existence of a cubic structure above the roof called a "Pigeon Loft" or "Dovecote".
The stables, farmyard animal stalls and barns date back to the early 19th Century. It was during this period that the first large families moved en masse to the hamlet. The family became completely self-sufficient.

The Randellinis, later better known as the Bianchinis, lived in the Guesthouse until 1940 and then moved to one of the new towns that sprung up immediately after the war.
However, still today, nostalgia drives the elderly to come to visit their old homes on bicycles; it is thanks to them that we managed to bring to light details that would otherwise have escaped the modern world and been lost in time. Thanks to the old villagers, old traditions and customs have been re-discovered ; the unusual legends and historical ambiguities of the Foresteria il Giardino di Fontarroncoto make the farmouse even more surreal and romantic for visitors today.
