The farm holidays complex sets 400 m. above sea level in the green heart of Tuscan countryside: Casentino Valley. Florence is only 55 km away, Arezzo 30 km.
Guests are welcomed by the landlord's family, who live in the Villa (=main farmhouse) all the year around. Guests can refer to them, speaking English fluently, for assistance and holiday tips. We are a big family with grandparents, Alessandro and Anna Maria, parents Isabella, Fabio, Piero, Valentina, and kids: Chiara, Francesco, Sebastiano, Arianna.
Family holidays at Fattoria di Marena
Restored farmhouses are situated near the XVII century Villa and the garden or stand alone in the surrounding countryside. They can guest a maximum of 10 families. All them are old houses restored and furnished in a simple but tasteful way. The farm offers self-catering farmstays in ample flats (apartments) or detached country houses: each accommodation has an independent entrance, a fitted out kitchen, garden-table and seats to enjoy the lanscape of Tuscany. Each house has his own history and athmosphere.
The farm offers:
a large swimming-pool (8X15X1.4m) with tiled solarium and a large panoramic meadow, deck chairs, dressing rooms; a riding school with horses and ponies for children and horse therapy, with covered ground, Teacher speaking English;
a little mountain bike rental; washing machine and maid service on request;

At Fattoria di Marena you can be sure of relaxing family holidays in a place which is both quiet and easily accessible: the village of Bibbiena is only 2 km away from the farm, and offers supermarket, shops, weekly market, restaurants.
In the surroundings: Tennis courts; golf course; fishing (angling) lake; Italian school; library; ...are only a few kms away.
The farm consists of 170 hectares (425 acres) so divided : fields where sunflowers, wheat and alfa-alfa grass are grown, for about 50 hectars, meadows where the farm cattle live for about 30 hectars, 90 hectars of woods (close to the farm houses we have high-trunk woods of fir, pine, oaks). The farm offers foothpaths and is a good place for birdwatching. The farm breed a "family" of about 30 cows, a bull and calfes: all them are pedigreed Chianina race animals. Close to them live the horses of the riding school. We have a hen-house with a nice family of assorted hens, rooster, goose, too.
Family holidays in Tuscany, a special view of Casentino Valley
Casentino valley in Tuscany is famous for monastries (Vallombrosa, La Verna, Camaldoli), romanesque churches ("pievi"), castles (Poppi Castle, Romena Castle, Porciano etc) and villages from the middle ages, memories of Dante and S. Francesco d'Assisi. Here you can find masterpieces of Della Robbia and painters like Sandro Botticelli, Domenico del Ghirlandaio and Bicci di Lorenzo. Being the valley shaped like a basket it has mountains (1000-1600 meters high) all around. The landscape is great, breathtaking. Village and sites are not overcrowded, actually, and that make siteseeingh enjoyable expecially if you are travelling with children for your family holidays. The valley is also known for some typical products like Panno Casentino tissue, Casentino's ham and cheese, restaurants offer tastefull typical dishes.
The Foreste Casentinesi National Park sets on the mountains, protecting a large forest where different kind of deer, wild boar, eagles and even the wolf use to live. Arezzo, only 30 km away, is famous for the largest ANTIQUARIA market of the all Italy (each month, 1th sunday) for the marvelous old town, for the Saracino Giostra (twice a Year) and for the Piero della Francesca masterpieces. Florence is only 55 km away. From the valley you can easly reach also Umbria (Trasimeno lake, Assisi, Spello). Excursions to Rome and Costa Adriatica (Rimini, Cervia) are also a possibility.

Location Description
Casentino is the first Arno Valley, you can find Foreste Casentinesi National Park and several nice hamlets with medioeval castles, monasteries ecc. Close to Arezzo and Florence.
